The regular meeting was held starting at 6:00 p.m.

The board approved an operating millage resolution which would ask voters for a 2-mill non-homestead millage that would enable our district to once again receive all of our state aid.  The election will be held on August 6, 2024.

The board granted an additional year of probation for 13 teachers who have not yet reached tenure status.

The resignation at the end of this school year of middle school teacher, Miss Theresa Kuhrt, was accepted with regret.  She has been a teacher at both the middle and high school levels for 26 years.

The hiring of Mr. Chris VanEpps to fill the open position of Dean of Students/Athletic Director starting on July 1, 2024 was approved.

The board approved the permanent hiring of Ms. Laura Hall, elementary teacher, who was hired on a temporary basis due to the timing of the hiring, at the beginning of this school year.

Superintendent Denney reported to the board members on the following:

  • Thanks to the elementary staff for a successful March is Reading Month.
  • Thank you and congratulations to Theresa Kuhrt on her upcoming retirement.
  • Congratulations to Chris VanEpps on his new position as Dean of Students/Athletic Director.
  • Congratulations to Laura Hall on her permanent hiring.
  • The school year is winding down fast!

The board members commented on the following:

  • The elementary Aladdin production was fun and very nicely done.
  • Board members are attending classes and will be going to the state capital next week.
  • The Quiz Bowl held at the middle school was impressive.
  • Congratulations to Chris Van Epps and Laura Hall.
  • Congratulations to Theresa Kurt on her upcoming retirement.
  • Board members find it easy to stand with staff because they always make decisions that are best for students.
