The cross country meet scheduled for Oct 11 at Michigan Center has been changed to Heritage Park in Hanover. The meet will start at 4:30 on October 11 as originally planned.
Both Cross Country Teams defeated Napoleon and Manchester yesterday at Heritage Park.
The Boys defeated Manchester 15-50 and Napoleon 15-48. Landon Melling led the Comets with a personal record 16:30. The Girls Team defeated Manchester 26-29 with a great team effort.
Middle School Cross Country team battled it out with Napoleon and both the boys and girls teams won their meets by 2pts, 17-19! Scoring for the boys team were Dean Reynolds 2nd, Rider Hall 3rd, Rogan Melling 4th and Scott Bolton 8th. Colton Kleinfeld was 9th and Ben Childs 11th to finish out the scorers. In the girls race, Kathryn Childs was 1st, Clara Rector 3rd, Kelly Fields 5th and Jennifer Ellis 8th in a very close battle to the finish. Ally Beneke was 15th and Dakota DeKamp 16th to round out the team. Manchester did not have a middle school team. Everyone on the team ran their best and did a great job! Way to go, Comets!
The Boys’ Cross Country Team won the 7 team Leslie Invitational yesterday with 19 points to runner-up Marshall with 54. Landon Melling and Bo Shepherd finished 1,2 for the Comets. Bradley Guenther and Donovon Kennedy finished 4,5 followed by Jay Waggener in 7th. Garrett Melling – 10, Andy Swihart – 12, Jason Chartier -14, Brandon Guenther – 16 and Bryce Stevens – 20 also earned medals for HH. The Boys record is now 20-2.
The Girls Cross Country Team finished third in the competitive Leslie Invitational yesterday. Judy Rector finished second followed by Brecquel Kilgore in ninth, Kimmy Burk in 13th, Reagan Fazekas in 17th and Lindsay VanSumeren in 20th

The Hanover-Horton Middle School Cross Country team competed in the East Jackson Invitational Saturday and ran great! Rogan Melling was 2nd in the 6th-grade boy’s race, Zach Shipe was 26th. In the 6th-grade girl’s race, Ally Beneke was 17th(finishing after getting stung by bees!), and Katherine Warren 23rd. In the 7&8 grade boys race, Rider Hall was 7th and Gideon Webster 8th. Scott Bolton was 23rd, Drew Jordon 25th and Colton Kleinfeld 30th to win medals.
Ben Childs was 34th, Ethan Stebing 40th, Lucas Beagle 47th, Sam Flint 71st and Logan Stebing 85th. In the 7&8 grade girls race, Kathryn Childs was 4th, Clara Rector 16th, Dakota DeKamp 26th, Jennifer Ellis 27th and Khloe Kraus 39th. It was a muddy, hilly course and the HHXC team was up to the challenge. Go Comets!

Other medal winners who contributed to the Comet effort were Bo Shepherd (11), Donovon Kennedy (15), Garrett Melling (17), Jay Waggener (21), Jason Chartier (25) and Andy Swihart (26).
The Boys’ record is now 14-2.
The Girls Cross Country Team won the Division I part of the Springport Invitational Wednesday led by individual champion Judy Rector. Other medal winners contributing to the victory were Brecquel Kilgore (4), Kimmy Burk (8), Reagan Fazekas (11), Lindsay VanSumeren (14) and Alayjah Cognata (21).
The Girls’ record is now 15-0 for the season.

The Girls record is now 7-0.
