Napoleon scored on four straight drives in the 2nd quarter to pull away from the Comets on Friday night. Hanover-Horton held a 12-7 lead when Duncan Wilson rambled 20 yards to put Napoleon in the lead. 3 more scores in the last 3 and half minutes before halftime was too much for the Comets to overcome. Trevor Keeler opened the scoring with a four yard run that followed a perfectly executed fake punt on a pass from Hunter Zieman to Austin Kilgore. Napoleon answered 2 minutes later. Zieman broke a 43 yard run to put the Comets back in the lead at the 11:09 mark of the 2nd quarter. Napoleon owned the rest of the quarter after Zieman’s TD.
The third quarter saw the Comets move the ball but they couldn’t get into the end zone until Ty Lapshan took a pass from Frank Bird in the right flats and raced 62 yards. Bird found Christian Beneke in the left corner of the end zone for the two point conversion.
Bird finished 3 for 5 passing for 95 yards. Zieman led the ground attack with 53 yards. Austin Kilgore and Zach Miles led the defense with 8 and 6 tackles.
The Comets go to Grass Lake next Friday night.
