Middle school boys basketball:The Boys Middle School teams each won their game Thursday night against Grass Lake. The 7th grade team got the night started sprinting out to a 17-1 lead. Their hot shooting continued as they led 24-6 after one quarter. The Comets cruised the rest of the way winning 61-20. The Comets were led by Carson Sander’s 19 points. Landon Lebel added 10 points while dominating the boards. Ty Walker and Blaise Uphaus each added 7 points.
The 8th grade team also got off to a hot start as Garrett Gumper scored 9 of the Comets first 11 points to give them an 11-1 lead 3 minutes into the game. Coming back after defeating Napoleon Tuesday night 62-30, the Comets led 27-16 at half. A big 3rd quarter and early 4th quarter saw the lead grow to 28. Grass Lake closed well to make the final score 59-37. Gumper led all scorers with 19. Basil Hampton added 15 points and Scotty Bolton had 8. Both teams return to action Monday night in East Jackson.
