The Hanover-Horton JV Football team traveled to East Jackson Thursday night and beat the Trojans 44-6. Corbin Vance started the scoring 11:53 into the 2nd quarter with a 7 yard run around right end. The two point run failed. :55 seconds later Kyle Owen scampered 21 yards for the Comets second score. Jeremy Van Epps ran in the 2-point conversion to extend the lead to 14. It looked like that score might increase as Joel Van Epps recovered a fumble on East Jackson first play but East Jackson intercepted Jeremy Van Epps pass and took it 80 yards for the Trojans only points on the night.
Blake Bryant scored on a 10 yard run along with Jeremy Van Epps second 2-point conversion to increase the Comets lead at the half to 22-6. The lead was preserved by a Carson French interception on the last play of the half.
The second half saw the Comets defense led by Victor McLain dominate the Trojans. The 3rd quarter started with a 72-yard kick return by Tad Mohr. Bryant added the 2-point conversion.Bryant added a 24 yard TD run in the fourth and Chance Cauthon raced 13 yards to finish the scoring. The Comets offensive line, featuring Max Scanlon, Vince Heie, Ethan Vreeland, Jimmy McCravey, Kurtis Hollenbeck and others opened holes all night. The defense was also helped by Colin Zieman who had 2 sacks and Brendan Skowronski who had one.
