The Hanover- Horton Comets JV football team visited Napoleon Thursday night and came away with a 36-14 victory. The Comets scored first after stopping a Pirate fake punt attempt. The Comets went 51 yards and scored on Randy Frailey’s 3 yard run. Napoleon came back and tied the game at 6 early in the 2nd quarter. The Comets then took control as Griffin Fedore scored on a 15 yard run and added the 2-point conversion to give the Comets a 14-6 halftime lead. The Comets scored on their first possession of the 3rd quarter as Cam Worley ran 4 yards. Garrett Gumper’s QB sneak at the end of the quarter gave the Comets a 28-6 advantage.
After a 30 minute lightning delay, the Pirates scored to narrow the gap to 14 but Frailey’s 51 yard TD run sealed the victory along with Chris Sorrow’s 2-point conversion.
Gumper finished 4-6 for 41 yards and Frailey had 2017 yards rushing to lead the Comets. Corbin Garcia-Vance added 92 yards and Fedore had 69.
The Comets JV team visits Grass Lake next Thursday.
