The Boys Cross Country Team won the Carson City Invitational, Gold Division on Saturday with 36 points to runner up Grandville Calvin Christian’s 102. Landon Melling ran a personal best of 16:11, which was the best time of the day for nearly 100 schools that competed. Jay Waggener also ran a season’s best of 17:32. Bo Shepherd, Bradley Guenther, Garrett Melling and Andy Swihart also earned medals for HH. The Boys’ record is now 68-5.
The J.V. Boys Cross Country Team also won the Carson City Invitationals Saturday
with a score of 36 points as Jason Chartier was the individual champion. Joe Berry, Alex Hockaday, Ashton Powell and Shane Sauber also ran personal best times.
The Girls Cross Country Team finished 6th at Carson City Saturday, led by medal winners Judy Rector and Brecquel Kilgore. Kimmy Burk ran a season’s best time for the Comets as did Krissy Johnson and Sidney Rainey in the J.V. race. The Girls’ record is now 58-15.
The HH Middle School Cross Country team traveled to Carson City on Saturday to compete against 12 schools at the Don Baese Invitational. The boys team finished 5th and the girls 6th in their division. Scoring for the Comets was Rider Hall in 10th place, Rogan Melling 13th, Gideon Webster 24th, Ethan Stebing 38th and Ben Childs 52nd.Lucas Beagle was 59th, Sam Flint 99th, Bryce Blackledge 100th and Zack Shipe 112th. In the girls race, Kelly Fielder was 25th, Kathryn Childs 31st, Clara Rector 47th, Jennifer Ellis 60th and Ally Beneke 62nd to score. Dakota DeKamp finished 99th, Khloe Kraus 104th and Katherine Warren 116th. Great Job, Comets!
