The Board and Superintendent Denney began the evening by honoring many of our athletes for their outstanding performances at the state level and also many for their academic standings as athletes.  Two of our coaches were also honored for their recognitions.  Joe Childs was recognized for the Jackson Citizen Patriot’s Bowling Coach of the Year and also the Michigan High School Interscholastic Bowling Coaches Association’s Division 4 Boy’s Bowling Coach of the Year.  Mr. Chad Mortimer was recognized for the second time as Jackson Citizen Patriot’s Boy’s Basketball Coach of the Year.

The board approved the first reading of the proposed NEOLA policy revisions with one exception to include the rating of “effective” in policy 1420, School Administrator’s Evaluation, Page 1 of 3, part C.

The Board approved looking at the HB4396 Revision proposal to be brought to them at the May board meeting.  This revision would allow school districts the ability to start school prior to Labor Day if they found it to be in the best interest of the students.

The Board approved the recommendations to advance the Tenure/Probationary teachers as presented to them.  Ms. Kim Travis received tenure; Elizabeth Ketchum, Catherine Lee, Jennifer French, Kristy Swihart and Sandra Langston advance to third year probation.

Annually, contracts for our administrators and supervisors are brought to the board requesting them to be extended for one additional year.  The board approved the year extension with no other changes.

The Board approved our school district to open a new Money Market Account with Comerica Bank as a means to better control transaction fees charged by the bank and hopefully reduce our costs.
