2010 Hanover-Horton Snowfest

For a few minutes, on Friday, February 26, at the spirit pep assembly, we had a feeling that Hanover-Horton’s Snowfest was about to become “Snowfiasco.”  Due to the blizzard-like conditions, we made the decision to cancel that night’s basketball game with Manchester and as a result, we also cancelled the crowning of the king and queen and the Snowfest dance.  However, “All’s well that ends well,” and luckily President Tuxedo allowed our candidates to keep their formal wear for a few extra days, so we were able to hold our halftime crowning on Tuesday during the make up game against Addison.  Last year’s Snowfest royalty, Cyle Rogotzke, a student at Adrian College, and Kelsse Miles, a student at Alma College, could not make it home on Tuesday, but our 2009 Homecoming King and Queen, Brett Londos and Jena Smoyer helped us out with the crowning duties.

Congratulations to our new King and Queen, Kyle Sercombe and Emma DuBois.  Kyle’s parents are Deborah Sercombe and Ronald Wolfe, Jr. and Emma is the daughter of Steve and Kim DuBois of Horton.  Kyle is active in the jazz choir, the Community Service Club and Art Club.  He has played football for four years, wrestled one year, ran track two years and plays intramural basketball.  He plans on enlisting in the Marines following graduation.

Emma played golf for one year and is a three-year member of the Community Service Club.  Emma plans to attend JCC next year and then eventually transfer to a four-year university to study social work.

Other senior king candidates were Travis Batterson, Matt Bloomingdale, Aaron Scheppelman and Josh Vincent while other queen candidates were Samantha Backes, Ashley Bernard, Tabitha Hubbard and Makayla Patrick.

Underclass court members included juniors Jon Mark William Clore, Jackson Miller, Sam Spink, Allison Clark, Danielle Hazard and Emily Wrozek.  The sophomores chose Zachariah Mudge and Stefvany Miller to rrepresent their class on court and the freshmen chose Bryce Stroede and Sarah Kurfess.

The Snowfest Dance has been rescheduled for Friday, March 12 following the Cascades Conference District finals in Boys’ Basketball which are being hosted by Hanover-Horton this year.
