President Gary Schuette called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.

The Board approved the proposed athletic eligibility policy revision:

  • We will continue to enforce the rule that students must pass 5 out of 7 classes from the previous semester or trimester and carry at least a 1.333 GPA.
  • We will use a student’s current semester grade for weekly checks.  If the check is during the second quarter of a semester, the previous quarter’s grade would also be taken into account.
  • Weekly checks will begin the third week of the semester and continue throughout the semester.
  • If a student is ineligible by GPA after the second and fourth quarter, they can have their grades checked after the next quarter, allowing them to regain their eligibility.

Our current bus lease with Midwest Transit Equipment is due to expire in June.  In order to secure 2017 prices, we needed to approve a new agreement before the end of this month.  The Board approved the bid to lease eight buses from the Holland Bus Company.  These buses will be model year 2019, 77-passenger buses with gas engines.

Based on the information gathered during the special meeting in October to discuss board goals and focus areas, the Board analyzed the results and feedback from that meeting to set new targets for the district moving forward.  Goals discussed were Goal #1, “How to foster an academically rich environment that strives to meet the needs of every student,” and Goal #2, “How the Board will provide support and resources to develop and maintain the investment our community has made in our district facilities.”

Meeting was adjourned at 8:00 p.m.
